How do I take part in Scotland’s Memory Walk?
Scotland's Memory Walk returns for 2025! This year we have walks taking place in Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. Sign up for your preferred location:
Dundee - Sunday 29 June
Aberdeen – Sunday 24 August
Glasgow - Sunday 7 September
Edinburgh – Sunday 26 October
Tickets are £10 for adults and free for children (all children still need to be signed up for their chosen event).
What if I can’t attend one of the main walks?
Don't worry if you're not able to come along to one of our main walks. You can still get involved by doing Your Walk, Your Way. This means you can choose your own walking route and when to do it. By doing your walk over 19-21 September, you'll be taking part in our Your Walk, Your Way weekend, when individuals, families and small groups all over the country will be taking part in Scotland's Memory Walk. It's free to sign up for Your Walk, Your Way. Just scroll to the bottom of our home page and complete the form to create your own fundraising page.
How do I receive donations?
If it's your first time fundraising, asking for donations can be daunting. But don't be scared, friends and family want to support you! Tell them what you are doing and what Alzheimer Scotland means to you. If you have a personal connection to dementia and feel comfortable to share your story, this will resonate with others. You don't need to use another website to fundraise for Scotland's Memory Walk as when you signed up, a page was created for you! All your info is available through your dashboard.
How do I get into my account?
Can't log in? No good! It's easy to reset your password though. Just head to the login page and click "Forgot your password?". It'll send you an email, then you'll be on your way. If you didn't receive the email make sure you check your junk or spam folder. It might take a few minutes to arrive.
Do I have to raise a certain amount?
We want Scotland's Memory Walk to be accessible and open to all, so we do not ask you to raise a specific amount. However, we suggest a target of £100. If you feel you can do more though, then be ambitious! We've had family teams that have raised thousands in the past. If you raise £100 or more, you'll receive an exclusive Scotland's Memory Walk medal.
Where does my money go?
We're very glad you asked! Alzheimer Scotland is committed to making sure the vital funds you raise ensures people living with dementia and their carers get the support they need. Your funds will support our campaigning work to improve standards of care and support, as well as allowing us to undertake critical dementia research. They will also fund our work empower people to understand and maintain their own brain health. Your donations will contribute to all areas of our work; delivering support across our 26 Dementia Centres (including our online Virtual Resource Centre), supporting our National Dementia Advisor Service and our 24Hr Freephone Dementia Helpline. Head to our About Us page to read more.
Where is my fundraising pack?
We're working hard to be a sustainable charity. To make things easier and do our small bit for the environment your fundraising pack is online and you can access it by visiting our resources page.
How do I encourage people to donate to my page?
You've signed up to Scotland's Memory Walk because it's important to you. It's a cause you care about. The best way to encourage people to support you is to help them understand that. Bring your fundraising page to life by making sure it feels personal to you. Share your story. Post lots of photographs. That will make it feel important to the people who want to support you. People care about you, so show them why you care about Scotland's Memory Walk.
How do I donate to myself?
Donating to yourself is a great way to get started and it really encourages other people to support you too. In your dashboard just click "Sponsor myself" to chip in to your campaign.
How do I get my Scotland’s Memory Walk medal?
We love our Scotland's Memory Walk medals and we're sure you will too! What's even better is that our medals are made from sustainable wood, making them even more unique! Everyone who raises £100 or more will receive an exclusive Scotland's Memory Walk medal in the post.
Can you tell me more about your fundraising platform?
We want to make taking part as easy and fun as possible, that's why we've pulled everything you need to take part and fundraise in one website! We know it can be annoying using different forms and websites to sign up to an event and takes away from the important things, like coming together to walk in memory and in celebration of our loved ones. Your event sign-up, tickets, fundraising page and other resources are all here in one website.
Can I share a page with my family?
Absolutely! You can create a fundraising page for your whole family or group of friends if you like. Or, if you each want your own page then you can form a team and we'll tally your fundraising together. Consider choosing a higher fundraising target as you'll have a wider reach of supporters willing to donate.
Someone gave me cash, what do I do?
Don't worry, it often happens. The easiest thing to do is pay this into your fundraising page by making a self donation. If this doesn't suit you, just get in touch with us and we'll help you bank that, and make sure it shows on your fundraising page.
How can I get in touch with you?
Got a question that's not on this list? Get in touch with our friendly Memory Walk Team and we will do our best to help! You can email us at memorywalk@alzscot.org, call us on 0131 243 1453 or visit our contact page
What if I can’t make it to my walk after I’ve signed up?
Life happens - we understand that. Just get in touch and we can work with you to potentially attend a different walk, do Your Walk, Your Way or refund your ticket and remove your fundraising page.
